Boracay: Day 2

Today the hubby and I did a few activities. Sadly all the activities offered (aside from island hopping) were inappropriate for our toddler and preschooler. But they really didn’t care much–just give them a beach and they are happy. What is incredibly crazy are the people selling you these activities and having the audacity to tell you that your 2 year old and 4 year old can ride a banana boat. Yes, having my 2 year old and 4 year old holding on to dear life on an inflatable thingy as a speed boat drags them around the ocean seems completely safe!!! NO THANK YOU!

The first activity we did was rent a stand up paddle board for an hour for $11! My cousins, hubby, dad, and I all took a turn on the paddle board. It was surprisingly not as difficult as I imagined, and we probably did it at the worse location ever. There are so many boats whizzing by that create varying sizes of waves that many people fall off the paddle boards.

Poor O wanted to be apart of the action the entire time we were paddling. He decided to swim out to where we were in his puddle jumper and encouraged us to stay on. After paddling around a few times I decided to have him sit on the board with me (our board was plastic with handles for him to hold on to). He LOVED it!

Parasailing take off.

After we were done, we left the kiddos to parasail. For $13 each we were able to parasail for 15 minutes. It was actually quite relaxing, like a windy hammock. My biggest concern was coming down since there was no safety briefing (not surprised honestly). I also noticed others coming back to the boat but not quite making it and hitting the water. So then I began to panic about the deeper water being cold (I know, very silly in the grand scheme of things). Overall it was really cool being high up in the air.

The rest of the day was spent at our hotel’s outdoor pool, which the children absolutely love. I did cut my toe on the edge where the shallow ends drops off to the deeper side. Seems like I get bruised in Bacolod and have flesh wounds in Boracay.

Overall a success second and sadly last day here in Boracay. If you find yourself here remember to haggle haggle haggle. People approach you all the time about these activities from different companies. Don’t be afraid to walk away and/or have two competitors compete for your business. I mean it is pretty cheap to begin with, but it’s the Filipino way to haggle. And see if they will give you a discount if you bundle your activities together, like jet skiing and parasailing. You’ll find a deal always.

Tomorrow we’re off to Manila for some family time! Woot!!!
