Ergo Original Baby Carrier

Who loves the Ergo? We LOVE the Ergo. It is a soft structured baby carrier that we’ve traveled all over the world with and have used the most with our children. Both my husband and I comfortably wear our children when baby wearing is a must using the Ergo. We’ve used it for walks, hikes, and containing our kids at the airport.

What I love the best about the Ergo is all the weight is distributed into my hips! It is so incredibly comfortable to wear and I so appreciate that my back isn’t paying the price so I can wear my children. Because the weight is even distributed in my hips, I can wear my children for much longer (both time and age wise). We’ve done a few hours of hiking in the Ergo and we wear them until around 2ish years old! My shoulders aren’t sore either.

The things that I don’t enjoy much about the Ergo is that it’s not really airy and there’s a lot of contorting going on. We have the cotton original material and while breathable to a point, it is not airy or breezy. Both your child and the parent break out into a major sweat in hot weather. If you do use the carrier in hot weather, make a point to take a lot of water breaks with the child out of the carrier.

The carrier can also be a bit tricky to get your child in to and out of without a lot of practice. I mostly find it a bit tricky trying to back wear, which is made more difficult if you have a squirmy child. It also requires a bit of contorting to get that back buckle locked in. If you have problems touching your back, you’ll have difficulties buckling the back buckle by yourself. But I think this is with any soft structured carrier with buckles. The Ergo is definitely one of the simplest to put on compared to others.

Overall, we love this carrier because it is comfortable and the longevity of it. This is our go to carrier when we pack our bags to the airport too. Go get yourself an Ergo!
