Boba Baby Wrap

Wraps can be a bit intimidating when you look at all that fabric and reading directions on how to tie it on you. But once you dive in, it actually is really easy and a great way to wear your baby. I like the Boba Baby Wrap.

I love a wrap with newborns. A lot of the soft structured carriers out there require you to buy an infant insert so you can safely carry your newborn. I also think these carriers dwarf the newborn and to me just doesn’t feel as safe or secure. Ring slings are another choice for newborns, but for me personally I just don’t feel like it a newborn that neck and head protection that I get from wraps.

Wraps are also really really really easy to breastfeed in, especially when you have to breastfeed all the time when you have a newborn. You simply push them down a bit and when they are done you bring them back up. A wrap also acts as a coverup. I’ve actually fed my daughter in the Boba wrap while grocery shopping at Safeway–talk about multi-tasking.

I keep the Boba wrap on me when I run my errands with a car. With other carriers you should take them off before you drive because you can’t get your seatbelt on properly and it is just uncomfortable. With a wrap, it’s like wearing another layer of clothing. So it’s easy to pop the baby out and put her in the car seat, then I just drive off to our next destination, and when I arrive I put the baby in without having to adjust or taking the time to put a carrier back on again.

The Boba is made of A LOT of stretchy material. It can be quite burdensome especially on anyone who is petite (like me). But I actually really prefer that it’s a lot longer. I can get a really good fit and make sure that I am wearing the wrap properly. The Boba is definitely a better alternative to any plus size moms out there who need something longer too.

The one thing I don’t like about the Boba is that I can’t wear a baby when they get heavier. I think the material is too stretchy for heavier babies and I just don’t feel they are as secure in the wrap. But that’s the point where I put them in a soft structured carrier anyways. The weight is also distributed in the shoulders, which isn’t so bad when they are young. But again, when they get to be that heavy we move on to the soft structured carrier.

I also don’t travel with the Boba, especially to the airport. In the US you can baby wear your children through security, but it’s only for domestic flights and not international. And who knows who you’ll run into at security anyways. It would be too much of a pain to take off the wrap and then put it back on when you are rushing around in an airport.

Overall, I love the wrap for a newborn baby. It frees my hands up to do what I have to do, it keeps my little one close and safe, and I love how I can discreetly feed my child in the wrap.
